Job description
As a direct consequence of the continuing expansion of the school, the Grenfell-Baines Institute of Architecture is seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Lecturer in Architecture with abilities and experience suitable for the role of course leadership.
In early 2021, both of our Part 1 and Part 2 course completed a highly successful RIBA validation event, which secured validation until 2026. The role will build upon these successes and help us deliver upon our aspiration to become an internationally significant Institute of Architecture.
We are looking for a dynamic leader and team member with knowledge and teaching/lecturing experience in architectural education, together with an expansive knowledge of architectural practice. Applicants should be world- class, design-oriented teachers, able to contribute to contemporary debate on architectural education.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality teaching within the remit of the jointly held criteria for parts 1 and parts 2 of the architecture qualification and will be responsible for coordinating and managing course delivery. The ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Architectural studies and skill in adapting to work with students in lecturing, seminar and workshop situations is essential.
The Institute leads global multidisciplinary networks on research and learning in multiple areas. Applicants should be interested in cutting-edge practice- based research to encourage experimentation in student work and build upon the existing research strengths of the school.
To be considered for the post, you must hold a good honours degree (or equivalent) and post-graduate qualification within the subject field of Architecture, have a professional teaching qualification or membership of the HE Academy and be able to demonstrate REF-able publications in the area of Architecture or equivalent esteem and recognition within processional practice.
All members of academic staff are required to share a range of administrative duties, including student recruitment activities, related to the offered programmes.
