Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

The above part-time (0.3 FTE) post is available immediately in the Faculty

of Health and Life Sciences on a fixed term basis until the 13th of November 2024.

The role

The post of Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences will be to deliver across a range of teaching programmes including BMBS (Medicine) and BSc Medical Sciences. The post will include teaching in large- and small-group formats, assessing, tutoring and leading modules, as well as any curriculum development or evaluation work as specified by the programme directors. .

About you

For a Senior Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (Optional or nearing completion) or equivalent in PhD in health and social care practice, to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning;
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching;
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
