The Department of Psychology is a large, creative workplace that, in addition to being a prominent research facility, provides higher education at all levels within psychology. More than 1000 students attend the department's various courses and programs, from undergraduate to doctoral level, including Psychologist Program, Psychotherapist Program and Specialist Programs.

Subject/subject description Clinical psychology.

Main responsibilities The main tasks involve teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels mainly within the Psychologist and Psychotherapy Programs at the department. The tasks also include supervision of students at different levels, course management and development, and conducting research.

The holder of the position is also expected to participate in pedagogical development as well as in departmental work such as tasks concerning clinical research and being a member of departmental committees and task forces.

The employment includes competence and research time according to the current terms and conditions agreement.

Qualification requirements Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in Psychology, or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise. Teaching proficiency should normally have been demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate- and master's levels.

Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.

Furthermore, eligible applicants should be licensed psychologists, or have the equivalent clinical and academic competence, with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy, acquired abroad.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Assessment criteria Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills and whether applicants are licensed psychoterapeuts or have equivalent skills from abroad with a focus on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The pedagogical skills should be demonstrated through teaching, supervision or the production of educational materials of relevance for the research area. When assessing the research skills, special emphasis will be placed on merits within the area of cognitive behavioral therapy, and also if the research is current.

Strong emphasis will be placed on:

  • documented education as supervisor in psychotherapy,
  • documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers,
  • administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings,
  • ongoing psychotherapy work.
  • Emphasis will be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.

    It is a merit to have broad competence of different kinds of therapy models and methods within the area of cognitive behavioral therapy.

    It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

    Additional information An applicant who does not have at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, and is not deemed to have acquired equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years of employment.

    Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement for the position, but the applicant has to be ready to take on administrative and pedagogical tasks that demand an understanding and usage of Swedish after two years of employment.
