Housed in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, the Senior Research Associate (SRA) will serve as a point person for the Office of Faculty Affairs with regard to collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting information about faculty. The SRA will contribute to a range of data- intensive office functions, such as maintaining faculty records, preparing data inputs for hiring and evaluation processes, and generating internal reports. The SRA will conduct research and data analyses on topics relevant to faculty to facilitate evidence-based decision-making among university leaders.
Selected duties:
· Responsible for understanding the structure and content of the faculty data systems, as needed to address the data, reporting, and research needs of the Office of Faculty Affairs and the university.
· Co-administers faculty data systems and works with system vendors to ensure that the systems meet the needs of the office, faculty, and other university stakeholders.
· Develops and implements strategies for accurate and efficient data use within the office, such as by streamlining or automating aspects of file preparation and reporting.
· Coordinates data maintenance projects, such as file organization, cleaning, and updating, based on team input and priorities.
· Provides content expertise and implements faculty data projects in collaboration with Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) to improve the integration and functionality of new and existing faculty data systems.
· Performs research and data analysis to respond to faculty-related questions from university leaders, as well as conducts original research projects that aim to understand and enhance the faculty experience at Loyola.
· Creates tools to track, report, and visualize key metrics, such as faculty hiring, retention, and diversity and inclusion outcomes.
The Senior Research Associate position requires a facility in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources and extensive experience in, and a strong passion for, empirical research for answering hard questions with reliable, valid data. The position also requires interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey findings to a variety of audiences and positively influence senior leadership and faculty with the ability to tell stories with data using data visualization software and presentation skills.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Five or more years of experience in an academic setting with progressive responsibilities
Master's degree required Ph.D. Preferred
Qualifications
Advanced Social/Behavioral/Organizational analytic knowledge and skills in an academic educational setting.
