Behavioural Group within Warwick Business School is now recruiting for several Graduate Teaching Assistants on a number of modules for the academic year 2021-2022.

These roles may include some or all of the following elements, in class support (live &remote), seminar delivery, lab support, marking and student engagement. Please be advised that previous experience or specialised knowledge may be required in some cases for individual modules listed below:

In line with University guidance on teaching continuity please be aware that teaching provision will be face-to-face, though some is envisaged to be on- line.

Specialist skills required for some modules, please advise in your application if you have these skills/knowledge:

Knowledge of probability theory and statistics (at an introductory level) Confident programmer with experience in R programming and troubleshooting. Basic data visualization and summary statistics (graphs, summary statistics such as mean, median, variance, QR) Probability theory (rules of probability) Probability distributions (normal, uniform, binomial, Poisson - PDF and CDF) Central Limit Theorem Confidence Intervals Hypothesis testing (t-tests, Chi-square test) Regression Analysis (OLS, t-test for coefficients) Excel for data analysis

The number of posts available will be dependent on student recruitment to programmes and the availability of individual Graduate Teaching Assistants.

All Graduate Teaching Assistants are University of Warwick students, mostly postgraduates, employed on a fixed-term basis to support academic staff at the University by performing teaching or teaching related duties in line with academic needs and student requirements. GTA positions provide a development opportunity for postgraduate students to enhance their teaching skills in preparation for more senior teaching posts in future and to achieve professional recognition. GTAs will be employed at the University for a period of 2 years or until they graduate and will be allocated a minimum of 20 hours of work in any one term per any one academic year through the duration of their contract. Postgraduate students must ensure that they receive permission from their PhD supervisor prior to accepting a GTA position, as well as understand their visa and funding limitations.

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The role involves leading seminars, marking assessments, holding weekly advice and feedback hours for the majority of modules

Teaching for 2021-22 will be a blend of face-to-face and online, depending on restrictions. As a result, you must be present in the UK. The seminar and associated lecture content is determined and produced by the Module Leader, and the GTA for the module will support the delivery of that material in leading seminars.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Research and Scholarship

Reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills

Teaching and Learning Support

Teach tasks within a class, seminar, tutorial or equivalent context, in support of teaching for which members of the academic staff have primary responsibility, within an established programme of study.

Teach using a variety of teaching methods in the classroom within a syllabus as devised by academic staff

Develop own teaching methods and approaches

Develop supplementary teaching materials with appropriate guidance and support where required.

Ensure the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives

Supervise the work of students where required by the department, providing advice on study and learning

Apply appropriate assessment methods and criteria, asses the work and progress of students undertake formal assessment of students which could include marking work applying academic judgment and integrity and knowledge of the area

Provide constructive oral and written feedback to students, possibly in one- to-one settings.

Administration and Other Activities

Undertake duties related to course administration, including but not limited to maintaining attendance records
