Salary Information Grade 13 Department Summary
The Center for Human Identification (CHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory on the campus of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. With funding from the State of Texas and various Federal Government agencies, CHI supports forensic DNA testing, anthropological examinations, local CODIS operations, training, and various research and development initiatives. CHI also manages the Texas Missing Persons DNA Database.
Position Overview
Conduct forensic DNA analysis on samples submitted for criminal, civil, and missing person's investigations to establish the identity and/or source of biological materials, maintain and provide accurate testing and quality control records, and provide legal testimony as to the methods used and results obtained in forensic examinations.

Job Duties
o
Casework examination following all Quality Assurance and Procedure Manual guidelines.
o
Data analysis, interpretation of results, and report generation.
o
Technical and administrative review of casework.
o
Provide expert witness testimony as required.
o
Assist in training and mentoring new analysts and technicians.
o
Supervise instrument maintenance and ensure that instrumentation is in proper working order.
o
Trouble-shoot quality assurance and instrument issues as needed.
o
Coordinate and directly participate in validation projects as needed.
o
Participate in the compilation and analysis of validation data and writing of validation summaries in conjunction with the Technical Leader.
o
Maintain proficiency in DNA analysis and interpretation by completing two external proficiency tests per year, as required by the National Standards.
o
Complete required hours of continuing education and review current scientific literature.
