Senior Facilities Assistant in the Safety Office (Ref.: 519067) (to commence in March 2023, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess 5 passes in HKCEE including Physics; OR min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including Physics. Preference will be given to those who are registered as a Radiation Worker, with work experience in radiation monitoring; low activity level radioactive waste transportation, treatment and management; and radiation emergency response in a tertiary institute setting. They should also have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work independently in a variety of settings. Possession of a Light Goods Vehicle driving licence (vehicle classes 1, 2/ 2a) is required.
The appointee will help to monitor the personal radiation exposure for radiation workers/users in the University; take samples to check for any radiation contamination in radioactive controlled areas in the University; collect and transport waste from user departments to central storage using a Radiation Board approved goods van; maintain a precise inventory record for waste; manage treatment and disposal of different types of low activity level radioactive waste according to the Radiation Board approval; assist in the response to an emergency situation out of hours if required; and perform other duties as assigned.
