Job Description
Provides leadership and responsive service to deliver non-credit workforce
training programming including short term industry training, custom training,
and apprenticeship programs to regional employers. Works closely with the CTE
Dean and related department chairs to coordinate closely with traditional CTE
programs to ensure non-duplication while ensuring broad coverage to the
service region. Oversees Talent Pipeline Management, career development
services, and connection to work based learning opportunities. Provides a
visible and responsive point of contact to regional employers, labor, and
economic development operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership and recognizable, visible support for regional workforce training and development
Assists in the coordination of microcredentialing activities at the College and working with the Idaho Division of Career-Technical Education (DCTE)
Act as institutional point of contact for workforce training to employers, regional entities, and governmental agencies
Represent CSI as a functionary of the DCTE Workforce Training Network (WTN)
Work closely with the CTE Dean and relevant campus units to provide coordinated service between credit and non-credit delivery
Advise administration regarding recommended policies, procedures, and best practices in support of regional workforce training and development
Provide oversight of the Idaho Region IV Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) role
Provide connections, promotion, and services for the campus to integrate work-based learning as a High Impact Practice including career development services
Monitor literature, best practice, and data (including labor market information) to support CSI's responsiveness to workforce training needs
Provide regular progress reports to the Administration regarding outcomes and other success metrics
Provide visionary, inspirational leadership for the CSI Workforce Training and Development team
Ensure efficient and effective marketing of the CSI Workforce Training and Development unit including social media and coordinating closely with CSI Marketing and Communication Department
Oversee the various financial accounts, funding sources, and fiscal viability of the department
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant business or education
discipline
5 years successful private sector industry experience including 2 years of
supervision of personnel
Outward and growth mindset
Knowledge and understanding of workforce training and career technical
education
Demonstrated and documented success in project management
Compelling oral and written communication skills, both personally and
organizationally
Documented leadership and organizational skills
Problem solving and critical thinking ability
Positive attitude
Ability to deal with ambiguity and make progress without direct
supervision
Computer skills, including the ability to generate reports, analyze data,
create presentations, and apply technology to solve problems
Strong work ethic
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with data and IR personnel
Experience in higher education, preferably at community or technical
college level
Experience in workforce training including CTE at postsecondary level
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct reports include:
4-5 senior staff overseeing entire Workforce Training and Development
staff of 10-12 employees (subject to occasional reorganization)
Position requires a high degree of supervisory expertise and dependable
leadership in occasionally high stress and sometimes ambiguous circumstances.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Pleasant office setting on well-maintained community college campus. Out of
region/out of state (overnight) travel occasionally required with support
for professional development. Many off campus meetings are conducted, but
mostly within the service region (not overnight typically).
