Summary of Position
This position manages capital improvement projects, including the design and construction of new facilities, space improvements and major renovations to existing facilities across the university. This position will manage projects from schematic design to completion including construction and close out phases. This role will coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, adhering to university design and construction standards, and ensuring results are compliant with the campus vision.
In addition to acting as a project manager, the Senior Director of Planning, Design & Construction Management provides supervision of other professional project management staff in Planning, Design & Construction Management department.
The position serves as a thought leader of the Facilities Leadership Team and responsible to the Associate Vice President for Facilities/Chief Facilities Officer.

General Purpose of Position
The Planning, Design & Construction Management office oversees the design and construction of the university's built environment. This position will join a highly productive and energetic team that manages the development of the physical campus. This position will be working closely with the other members of the department, university community, outside consultants and contractors as well as governing agencies to manage the project from initial concept through occupancy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are to oversee construction and renovation of the university facilities including: a. Facilitate owner/architect/contractor progress meetings. b. Coordinate the interaction among consultants, contractors, government agencies, and University clients to achieve timely and cost effective completion of construction and renovation projects. c. Maintain accurate monitoring of fund expenditures d. Inspect work-in-progress on construction sites to verify quality of field work. e. Facilitate timely resolution of construction problems and document changes. f. Verify accuracy of application for payments. g. Bid and award projects with outside contractors h. Maintain accurate project files including shop drawings, blueprints, payments, change orders, and general correspondence. i. Participate in the post occupancy follow-up inspection of completed work. Secondary responsibilities include working as a team with the Planning, Design and Construction Management staff: 1. Planning: a. Review existing site and building conditions b. Work with university colleagues to develop the building scope and budget c. Coordinate and prepare materials for meetings and presentations. 2. Design: a. Coordinate the interaction among consultants, government agencies, and University colleagues to achieve timely and cost effective completion of construction documents. b. Review project plans and specifications during all project phases assuring conformance with University standards, zoning and building codes. c. Create construction documents for minor construction projects in accordance with applicable building codes and standards of practice. 3. General administration: a. Serve as PDCM representative on committees and task forces b. Attend departmental and division meetings c. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelors' degree in Construction Management or Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency with current version Auto CAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Project Scheduling software.
