The Business Development Team provides a centrally coordinated, but locally delivered, business development function. Our aim is to grow the University's research and teaching income and to position the University of Adelaide as the ‘partner of choice' for industry. We provide seamless connections between client needs and the resources and the expertise of the University – empowering clients to achieve their goals; expanding the research and teaching base of the University; and adding to the wellbeing and vibrancy of society.

Working for the Business Development Team, but in alignment with Industry Engagement Priority (IEP) Directors and Research Institute and Faculty staff, the Senior Business Development Manager is central to the delivery of our Business Development function. The Senior Business Development Manager will support Schools and Institutes to achieve agreed revenue targets and will develop Strategic Business Development Plans to guide focus, support and resourcing. Working with a high degree of autonomy, professionalism and customer focus, this position will use their influence to support coordinated business development and revenue generation across their IEP area and the University.

To be successful you will need:

  • demonstrated experience in fields relevant to business development;
  • experience developing strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders;
  • demonstrated experience developing and delivering strategic plans and revenue;
  • extensive experience in developing and delivering commercial contracts including: budgets, risk management & negotiation;
  • demonstrated understanding of service culture and key account management principles;
  • excellent communication and rapport building skills and the ability to use influence to deliver strategic goals and outcomes.
