Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences
The Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) is a new
research Centre, funded by Queensland Health and The University of Queensland
that is committed to establishing and maintaining multidisciplinary research
expertise across a range of environment health sciences. These include
environmental aspects of toxicology, human health epidemiology, microbiology,
health risk assessment, health risk communication, identification and analysis
of emerging environmental health risks, and state-of-the art monitoring and
analytical techniques, methodologies and technologies for environmental
hazards and exposures. The Faculty is strongly committed to the advancement of
quality inter-professional education and genuine inter-disciplinary research
in the health sciences. Further information is available at
QAEHS will work closely with Queensland Health to develop its research
directions, and to provide expert opinion and advice, as well as relevant
training for Queensland Health staff. In addition, staff will pursue research
excellence through competitively funded research and government or private
consultancies. Supervision of research students and some coursework teaching
are other core components of QAEHS' activities.
About This Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Analytical Research Technician to
support the QAEHS research activities and related consultancy projects through
the provision of analytical technical and administrative support.

This position will report to Dr Tim Reeks, Analytical Chemist.
Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful for this role, you will have completed an undergraduate
degree, or completion of a diploma qualification and at least 2 years
subsequent relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant
experience and/or education/ training in the areas of analytical chemistry
and/or organic chemistry.
You will have demonstrated experience or understanding of the application of
laboratory analytical instruments for trace analysis, including LC and/or GC
instrumentation. This will be partners with experience with, or ability to
rapidly acquire expertise in, analysis and quantification or organic chemicals
in complex matrices for a wide variety of compounds, particularly
You will have strong laboratory and/or analytical skills, with an emphasis on
accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret and
follow methods and protocols.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed term position at HEW level 5.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,796.58 -
$78,852.96, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the
range $82,831 - $92,256.
