Position Title Senior Admissions Counselor

Position Summary

The Senior Admissions Counselor is responsible for providing motivation, support, and oversight to team members throughout the admissions applications process for the School of Professional Studies. The Senior Admissions Counselor reports to Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties

  • Represent UIW and the respective programs to prospective students through one-on-one communications, visits to local businesses, military installations, college fairs, and local community events to promote enrollment options. Note that regular local travel is required with occasional travel within Texas.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members on recruitment issues and concerns.
  • Serve as subject-matter-expert within the department and take appropriate action to keep team motivated and on-task, especially during peak periods.
  • Assist team and partners to organize events to bring prospective students to the programs.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of marketing materials through market feedback.
  • Prepare recruitment reports upon request.

  • Respond to admissions inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with prospective students throughout the admissions process;
  • Review admissions documents for eligibility from application to enrollment utilizing phone, email, messaging or chat options, in-person visits, events and other communication means.
  • Communicate with prospective students, instructors, staff, UIW departments, and other stakeholders and/or customers to maintain and expand positive internal and external relationships developed by the Deans and Directors in the School of Professional Studies.

  • Track student and partner communications and enrollment results in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Track progress of applicants working in cooperation with other UIW departments to assist prospective students.

    Identify and develop potential partnerships for general student/military- related recruitment opportunities with businesses, community colleges, and appropriate groups.

  • Ability to regularly travel within San Antonio and occasionally travel within the state of Texas.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Required Education

    Bachelor Degree.

    Required Work Experience

    Two (2) years of professional work experience in admissions, enrollment, or other relevant area in higher education.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience as an Admissions Counselor at a University.
  • Business development experience.
  • Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

  • Valid Texas Driver's license and driving history acceptable to the University insurance carrier.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Work Hours

  • 8am to 5pm with some evening and weekend work required.
  • Position may require some travel within the State of Texas.
  • Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage potential and current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
