Department/Office: Learning Center

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour, 0 - 25 hours per week depending on department need, availability of funds and student eligibility .

Looking to fill Monday-Thursday 1:00pm -5:00pm and Friday 9:30-4:00pm.

This position will gain marketable work experience by working with Yavapai College staff, Faculty and affiliates in a group effort to support the mission, goals and values of Yavapai College.

The Learning Center Assistant serves as receptionist at the Prescott Learning Center (PLC) in a busy, high traffic area, answering students questions, making referrals to college resources, including faculty offices.

Duties will include:

Scheduling appointments and follow-up calls, making copies and providing general clerical support to several departments housed in the PLC

Serving as the switchboard operator for the district, providing input for switchboard protocols, updating college directories, tracking call volume data and updating web pages

Provides computer assistance as needed to students using the various computer programs in the PLC computer lab.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credits hours

All hiring documents must be completed prior to first work shift, including acceptable documentation for the I-9 Form

Adhere to the code of confidentiality in certain cases where discretion should be used

Adhere to Yavapai College Code of Conduct as well as FERPA guidelines

Computer skills with Microsoft office, electronic calendaring, staff scheduling, and databases

Ability to communicated effectively in person, in writing, and by telephone

Ability to take direction and solve problems independently

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions

Attention to detail and accuracy with ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Experience working with the public and a willingness to provide a high level of customer service to students, staff, faculty and community members

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Ability to enforce the policies of the Learning Center in monitoring appropriate computer lab usage; minimizing distractive noise levels, and insuring appropriate use of the Learning Center to promote an academic environment

Ability to work a flexible schedule as assigned including day, evening, and/or weekend hours if needed

Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties

Essential Functions

The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
