The Institut für Gartenbauliche Produktionssysteme (IGPS), Phytophotonics department, invites applications for the position of a Scientific Employee (m/f/d) in the context of the call for proposals "Innovative Teaching and Learning Concepts: Innovation plus, Module Biosystems Engineering" (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 25 %) to start on April 1, 2023. The position is limited to 12 months. The scope of the job corresponds to 25 % of the collectively agreed working hours.

Responsibilities

As part of the call for proposals "Innovative teaching and learning concepts: Innovation plus" a project for the realization of an innovative seminar part for the bachelor module "Biosystems Engineering" was acquired. The position is responsible for the independent implementation of the project.

The tasks include the commissioning of two portal systems for the automated management and monitoring of raised beds. Subsequently, series of experiments on the influence of various physical growth factors (e.g. soil moisture, light availability) will be developed and corresponding teaching and learning materials will be produced. In particular, accompanying digital content for teaching is to be created, such as an introduction to the system in video format with subsequent digital knowledge testing.

A Student Assistant is also assigned to the project to support the work and will be directed by the advertised position.

The project is based in the Phytophotonics department. We offer a motivating, dynamic working atmosphere at the interdisciplinary interface between physics and plant sciences.

Employment requirements

A prerequisite for employment is a successfully completed scientific university degree in a technical (e.g. physics, optical technologies, engineering sciences) or plant science (e.g. plant biotechnology, horticultural sciences) field of study.

We expect a high degree of commitment and motivation, a structured way of working especially when writing teaching materials, pleasure in working independently, a good command of written and spoken German and English, and good communication skills.
