Description:

The Scholarship Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and awarding scholarships, waivers, and exemptions per federal & state guidelines. Prepares and organizes scholarship roster for committee decisions. Schedules Scholarship Committee meetings. Reviews student accounts for renewed eligibility per term. Works with other staff, faculty, students, parents and the community. Assists with FAFSA completion and attends high school recruiting events as scheduled. Will provide support to the Director of Financial Aid and plays an integral part of fulfilling the mission of the institution, by preparing students for success in life.

Responsibilities:

• This position will be a Financial Aid Coordinator position and will be responsible for managing the institution's scholarship program and conveying critical information concerning the entire financial aid process. • As such, this position will have extensive daily personal interactions with students, parents, high school counselors and administrators, and other Kilgore College staff. • Will maintain a thorough understanding of the entire financial aid process and will award all scholarship funds and state exemptions and waivers for all eligible student, including outside agency scholarships such as DARS and WIOA. • In addition, the position will counsel students and parents in person, by phone, email regarding eligibility, application process, financial aid programs, need analysis, and cost of attendance. • Will prepare scholarship award packages within state, institutional, departmental, and federal guidelines. • Will be a significant source of information and documentation during annual and special audit cycles. • Attend high school FAFSA events and other KC sponsored events. • Will assist with the awarding of Athletic Scholarships • Submit weekly reports and monthly reconciliation to the Director. • Work closely with the Kilgore College Foundation and Scholarship Committee by compiling required information, scheduling meetings, and updating funds amounts in PF's from the Foundation's system. • Will accept and enter TASFA application data into PF's. • Will validate and create scholarship lists for DC40% and ICW (competitive waiver). OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend & maintain profession conduct while attending staff meetings and college sponsored events. 2. Attend necessary training and development to remain current in the field, as required. 3. Act as liaison for the financial aid office, with excellent public relation skills in answering daily questions so as to allow aid counselors time to process files. 4. Will need to work some evenings or weekends during Registration and some Saturdays during the summer for KC Star Days

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Position Requirements: 1. Associate degree. Extensive related work experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. 2. Excellent customer service and computer skills required. 3. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 4. Must be able to handle high level of stress.

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

The twelve-month salary range is $27,000 to $30,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through the Teacher Retirement System and generous paid leave time are also furnished as well as a 36 hour work week. In addition, full-time employees have free use of the college's recreational/fitness facilities and tuition scholarships are available for the employee and dependent children. Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
