Job Description: To utilize the nursing process to provide specialized, direct nursing care related to pre/post-vascular access services: PICC, midline and IV vascular access. To perform patient evaluation, device placement and monitoring utilizing a systematic critical-thinking approach to guide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation of human responses to actual and potential health problems. To identify patient needs using the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Synergy Model. To reduce post procedure complication rates and provide quality patient care. To provide education to patients and family members regarding PICC care and maintenance. To deliver patient care in collaboration with the patient, their family and all members of the health care team and with the knowledge of a licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist, and/or dentist.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certification) by the Vascular Access Certification Corporation (VACC) or Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion Therapy (CRNI) by Infusion Nurse Certification Corporation (INCC) within eighteen (18) months from date of hire to position required. Currently certified with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.Primary Location
