Implementation of metagenomics-based approaches to characterize the evolutionary dynamics of microbial genomes in metagenomic systems, including host-associated and environmental microbiomes. Particular attention will be paid to microbiome-host co-evolutionary dynamics, in relation to the provision of health-supporting molecules, and the evolution of determinants of pathogenicity, antibiotic resistance and ecosystem multifunctionality, in the context of global change. New knowledge will be generated on the evolution of microbial genomes in relation to their role in host biology, but also in relation to food security and environmental safety. ...
