Position Summary:

RIETS is seeking an independent, motivated advancement professional to assist in the development of fund-raising strategies for new and existing stakeholders. The RIETS Development Associate will draft fund-raising proposals, reports, grants and correspondences and will be responsible for achieving a specified annual fundraising goal, while ensuring the CRM's data integrity. The Development Officer may organize parlor meetings, student or rabbinic speakers and other fundraising events.

Reporting to the RIETS Associate VP of Institutional Advancement, this position includes development, stewardship, CRM management, volunteer management, communications, event planning and grant writing.

Position Responsibilities:

The duties of the RIETS Development Associate are as follows, but not limited to:

Portfolio Management and Donor Relations

  • Manage a portfolio of RIETS alumni and stakeholders
  • Assist with the management of all donor prospects
  • Aim to increase alumni donors through alumni dues and minimize annual LYBUNTS
  • Manage the annual Day of Learning peer-to-peer fundraising campaign
  • Coordinate Shiur sponsorships from alumni of each Rosh Yeshiva
  • Coordinate with YU IA development staff in the discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects likely to support RIETS- specific programs and activities
  • Work to grow alumni giving through alumni dues and Elef L'Mateh membership
  • Manage annual phone-a-thon campaign
  • Collect data for contact reports and data updates
  • Follow up with donors as needed
  • Program Management and Collaboration

  • Work with University Advancement colleagues on program purpose, goals and opportunities for collaboration. Partner with YU Annual Giving Programs to outreach to targeted constituent programs, increase awareness and build donor base
  • Coordinate Kaddish being said for donors' family members for Yahrtzeits and the year of mourning
  • Experience & Educational Background:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Intricate knowledge of the Orthodox world
  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent writing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative team-oriented style
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate a high level of professionalism in demeanor, attire and personal interactions
  • Working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving
  • Knowledge of CRM
  • Ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends on occasion
  • Salary Range:

    $40-$40 per hour
