  • About the Role An exciting opportunity has become available for a Residential Life Assistant to join the Student Residences team at Swinburne University.

    Supporting the Residential Life Coordinator and the Residential Team, you will be involved in building and sustaining a supportive, safe, and inclusive community in the Student Residences. You will be responsible for assisting the team with day-to-day operations of residential life activities and coordinating and supporting the Resident Advisors with the planning and implementation of high-quality events and programs for the residents.

    Being an integral part of the Student Residences Team, this role is based on campus in Hawthorn.

    About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated capacity in supporting, implementing programs and events, which support the academic and personal needs of students and encourage community mindedness, good citizenship and personal growth.
  • Strong administrative skills, organizational skills, and ability to prioritise tasks and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work and interact with people from various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficient skills in the Microsoft Office software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Experience in residential life within a student accommodation or similar environment, particularly providing leadership and support to young adults, and having a strong understanding of the personal and academic needs of students transitioning into university life, and students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
  • Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
