Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate with join the Equine Surgery and Medicine service of the Pathobiology and Population Medicine Department to provided clinical care in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and teach professional and technical student in the clinic and didactic curriculum. Residents will serve under the supervision of Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Diplomates of the American College of Internal Medicine and Diplomates of the American College of Theriogenology. The equine practice residency program Medicine is designed to provide three years of post-DVM training in all aspects of equine practice. The training for the resident will utilize the faculty in Population & Pathobiology. The clinical facilities at the Animal Health Center will be the primary training sites. The resident is expected to satisfy training criteria for the board certification requirements for the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. The requirements of this residency include completion of a research or clinical investigation, oral presentations, enroll in a concurrent master's degree and publication of at least one first-author manuscript. Certification of the residency training is preferred after successful completion of the three-year program completion of a concurrent master's degree program is expected.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Be licensable in the State of Mississippi. Must have completed an internship or post-graduate equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a general or academic veterinary practice is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to provide timely, compassionate care to clients and patience, academic ability to complete the required research project and produce first author, manuscript for publication, and successfully complete the requirements for a master's degree
