At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a researcher position at the Department of Physiology.

The researcher will work in a research project investigating how the autonomic nervous system can regulate inflammation and thereby development of cardiovascular diseases.

Job assignments

The researcher will work in a project investigating how autonomic nervous system can regulate inflammation and thereby development of cardiovascular disease. The project involves human material and data, as well as different in vitro systems. The job assignments involve study design, preparation of tissues (human and mouse) for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and molecular biological analysis, compiling data including statistical analysis, applying for funding and writing and submitting scientific papers. Emphasis will also be placed on experience of analysis of GWAS data and SNP analysis.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must have a PhD degree in the field of medicine, biology or other relevant area, as well as a master degree in bioinformatics. The successful applicant should have in depth knowledge regarding Unix, Pyhon and R, as well as, statistical analysis and SPSS experience.

The applicant is required to have research experience in the field of cardiovascular diseases. Very good ability to independently process data and write scientific publications is essential, as is the ability to be flexible and able to work independently. Experience of collaborations with other research groups is a merit. Pervious awards and received external funding is a strong merit.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 3 months, 100% of full-time and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
