Researcher Plant Nutrient Sensors What you will do

We are looking for a Researcher Plant Nutrient Sensor s to contribute to the technologies that will define tomorrow's society. In this start-up alike environment, you will work in a multidisciplinary team of (amongst others) sensor application engineers, electrochemical and optical specialists and hardware engineers creating innovative solutions in precision agriculture. Your main work will be the exploration, development and validation of nutrient sensing technologies that can be applied in vertical farms and greenhouse horticulture.

Tasks include:

  • Based on identified needs in the market, assess the potential of novel nutrient sensing technologies (e.g., optical, electrochemical) with respect to meeting the required specifications.
  • Develop a R&D roadmap for nutrient sensing in water and substrates.
  • Develop and validate innovative sensor technologies that can be used in solutions to measure nutrients in controlled indoor farming applications.
  • Work together with hardware and software engineers to ensure a smooth transfer of proof-of-concepts towards implementation in prototypes for field testing.
  • Apply learnings from field tests to improve the performance of the technologies.
  • Translate new insights into patent applications and publications at peer- reviewed conferences and journals.

    Who you are
  • You hold a Ph.D. in the field of physics, chemistry or a related field or a M.Sc. in the same fields with 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • You have a strong background in sensor related technologies and sensor fusion.
  • A solid understanding of the horti- and agricultural sector, in particular related to sensor technologies is highly appreciated.
  • Your communication skills in English (written and spoken) are excellent.
  • Result oriented and hands-on attitude; which means taking initiative, thinking proactively and having a flexible mindset are attributes that define yourself.
  • You can deal with ambiguity and you see changes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
