The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC) is a well-established group involved in a wide range of methodological and applied research projects, both national and international. These posts provide the opportunity to conduct health economic research on a wide range of large data sets collected as part of clinical trials, registries and administrative databases.

The focus across all projects is the application of health economics methods to patient-level data from trials and cohort studies to inform health policy. As a Researcher in Health Economics you will reviewing and summarising published literature; contributing to the set-up of international observational studies. The projects offer the opportunity for the successful applicants to enhance their skills in advanced health economic methodological approaches. The postholders will be supported in their career progression and will be encouraged to identify and take forward their own research interests, with a view to eventually developing their own portfolios of work.

To be considered, you will hold a Masters degree in a subject related to health economics. To be considered for grade 7, you will also have substantial research experience. Sufficient specialist knowledge of the discipline to work within established research programmes is essential for this post, as well as strong data analysis skills in statistical methods within health economics. You will have ability to work independently, effectively, and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Experience of conducting economic evaluations (either alongside clinical trials or using decision models) would be desirable.

The post is full time (part time considered) and fixed term for 2 years in the first instance. The closing date for applications is noon on Tuesday, 12 December 2023.
