Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Researcher III to work in an immunology research lab in the Department of Microbiology. The position will include working with human and/or animal samples.

General Responsibilities

As directed:

  • To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
  • To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
  • To develop and improve techniques for the lab.
  • Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • Develops and improves techniques for the lab.
  • Contributes to planning/design of studies.
  • Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data.
  • Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
  • May assist in planning long or short term goals/fiscal management.
  • Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Salary Range $35,570.00 - $59,800.00 annually

    Qualifications

    Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Experience in basic laboratory setting for those holding a Bachelor's degree

    Preferences

    Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or any other related life sciences

  • Experience in basic laboratory setting for those holding a Master's degree
  • Experience working with animal and human samples
  • Experience working in a wet lab
