RESEARCHER II (Sen) - (T209997)

Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Genetics Research Division, is seeking a passionate and motivated Researcher II to join the Sen Laboratory. A successful candidate must be proficient or have prior experience in R (or Python), and Shell programming language.

The main responsibilities for the position are:

  • Independently perform computational analysis on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets.
  • Collaborate with graduate students and postdocs on bioinformatics projects.

    General Responsibilities

    Under minimal supervision:

  • To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter and summarize data.
  • To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

    • Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals. Runs assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.
  • Collects, enters and summarizes data.
  • Monitors results; detects and reports unusual outcomes.
  • Assists in the maintenance and trouble-shooting of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Performs basic statistical data analysis.
  • Performs fundamental statistical data analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Hourly Salary Range $15.50 - $23.51

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
  • OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience

    • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

  • Proficient skill or prior experience in R (or Python), and Shell programming language.
