College of Health Wellbeing&Life; Science Academic Grade 6 - £27.924 to £34,304 per annum, dependent on experience
We are seeking to appoint a Researcher to a fixed-term MRC-funded project entitled “Breaking down barriers – re-purposing anti-fibrosis agents to improve cancer drug delivery”.
Your role in this project will be to undertake cancer cell culture experiments in a range of 3D tissue models in order to assess chemotherapy responses, and the effectiveness of anti-fibrotic treatments in improving their delivery. You will generate novel data using clinically-validated anti-fibrotic agents, developing and analysing imaging data to assess chemotherapy targeting and effectiveness, with the potential to contribute towards peer reviewed publications building on our current work. You will collaborate with colleagues at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT Trust and the School of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Sheffield to develop tissue and primary cell models.
The successful candidate will have undertaken postgraduate study and/or have completed or be studying for a doctorate in a related area. They will have practical laboratory experience, preferably involving cell culture and microscopy imaging. Knowledge and experience of tissue processing and histology is desirable but not essential. You will benefit from extensive equipment access in the BMRC, as well as project-specific support within the bowel cancer microenvironment /extracellular vesicle teams in the BMRC at SHU.
The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.
