    CMERC facilitates collaborative research projects focussed on delivering practical outcomes that help maintain and enhance marine and coastal biodiversity, function and heritage, ranging from catchments to the outer Great Barrier Reef. Located in the Port of Gladstone and within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, CMERC is ideally placed to deliver research with global impact.

    Working alongside world-renowned researchers, in this role you will contribute to CMERC's various research projects by guiding researchers and research students in safe laboratory practice ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements. You will support laboratory and field work activities and conduct basic data analysis, reporting and proposal preparation as required.

    Position Requirements
  • Completion of a degree with some subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an associate diploma and at least two years' subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience within the disciplines of environmental science.
  • Previous laboratory and fieldwork experience and the ability to work both independently and within a team to meet the requirements of laboratory and fieldwork schedules.
