The University of Zurich, Center for Surgical Research, is looking to appoint
with immediate effect or by agreement
Veterinarian Research 100% (limited to 1 year with the possibility of
extension)
The Center for Surgical Research provides a translational research service for
all clinics and institutes at the University of Zurich. The proximity and the
excellent partnership between the University of Zurich, the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology (ETH) and the university hospitals creates a unique
opportunity for interdisciplinary basic and applied research.
An exciting working environment awaits you at the interface of Veterinary
Medicine, Human Medicine and future Technologies. Your core competency will be
the establishment and refinement of large animal models for the development
and testing of new surgical techniques and medical devices for a variety of
surgical and medical fields, as well as the optimization of imaging procedures
for diagnostics and therapeutics of multiple organ diseases.
Your responsibilities
As a member of the veterinary team, you will work on various research
projects, which include the following responsibilities:
Veterinary support, including anesthesia, surgery, pre- and post-operative
care for large animals
Planning and implementing new projects including writing and managing
animal experimental licenses
Advising scientists on aspects of animal welfare and 3Rs
Active contribution to the smooth running of operations (ordering and
organization of consumables and medicines as well as maintenance of the
infrastructure)
Training and supervising externs/interns, students and animal care takers
Your profile
Degree in veterinary medicine eligible to work in Switzerland
Interest in working with large animals
Great interest in scientific work
You are a reliable, precise and well-organized personality with a quick
grasp and an independent and careful way of working
You enjoy working in a team
High level of motivation and flexibility, including willingness to work on
weekends, public holidays and shift work
