Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Discovery, Innovation and Research
is to provide the infrastructure, support and resources for the Adams School
of Dentistry to become the global model for research, discovery, and
innovation within the oral and craniofacial basic, applied, and clinical
sciences, including the areas of oral health services, policy, and education.
The Research Technician will be responsible for conducting various laboratory
experiments under the supervision of a Research Specialist with an emphasis on
host-pathogen interactions. The researcher's primary responsibility will be to
carry out the goals of research project associated with SARS-COV2 infection.
These goals will necessitate that the selected candidate perform bacterial
growth, murine infection and several immunological assays including but not
limited to multiplex ELISA, real-time PCR, western blot and flow cytometry.
The selected candidate will also collect and record data as specified in
developed protocols as well as assess accuracy, validity, and integrity of
data. The research technician will also assist other Wallet laboratory
personnel, graduate students, and DMD volunteer researches as needed. In
addition, the research technician will contribute to the organization of the
laboratory by helping keep accurate inventory, restocking laboratory supplies
and assisting with maintenance of lab equipment. The selected candidate will
be expected to have the technical knowledge to be trained to perform the
duties, the ability to follow instructions through a standard work process,
the ability to perform routine and repetitious tasks, and the ability to
observe, monitor, collect, and record data.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

The ability to learn how to conduct various laboratory experiments with an
