Position Summary

The Research Technician assists in the organization and completion of laboratory experiments, as well as performance of assays with cells and tissues. The technician will perform various cell propagation protocols for both eukaryotic cells and bacteria and standard molecular and cell biology techniques. The technician will assist in data processing, statistical analysis and graphic presentation of data. Additional responsibilities include preparing and disposing of reagents necessary for research, and maintaining lab inventory, including serving as a backup to the lab manager for timely ordering of required supplies. The incumbent will be expected to conduct difficult/complex lab testing, develop methods and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, and assist the Principal Investigator with grant proposals, reports and research publications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to successfully: work both independently and within a group perform lab bench protocols calculate ratios and percentages utilize a variety of computer software and equipment (general and lab specific) provide excellent customer service Ability to independently plan and execute molecular microbiology experiments

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Preference given to candidates with prior experience with animal model work and/or tissue culture with primary cells.
