The Jackson Lab at USU seeks a Research Technician II to express and purify
CRISPR associated proteins and protein ribonucleoprotein complexes, use
standard techniques to manipulate plasmid DNA, and to perform in vivo and in
vitro biochemical assays. Additionally, the candidate will be asked to train
and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in biochemical techniques and

Manipulate DNA using various techniques such as Gibson cloning and

The research technician will design and implement experiments relating to
the analysis of CRISPR immune systems. This includes the collection,
preparation and analysis of research data.
The researcher will design safety procedures and adapt protocols and
methods as needed.
The position requires the maintenance of a detailed research notebook
summarizing experiments and recording data.
The researcher will tabulate and display data for presentation at research
conferences and for manuscript preparation for scholarly dissemination of

and volunteers as necessary.
Two years of experience or an associate degree/vocational training is

Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or equivalent
2 years of experience working in a research laboratory
Experience heterologously expressing and purifying protein
Basic understanding of CRISPR adaptive immune systems
