This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, professional Doctoral College team, which supports the research student administrative journey from admission to graduation.

Working with the Head of the Doctoral College you will be responsible for the co-ordination of effective administration in support of the research student examination and conferral process to ensure a secure and efficient service that is fully compliant with University regulations and codes of practice. Your new role will also have oversight of activities related to the appointment and service of external viva voce examiners and support the Head and Deputy Head of the Doctoral College in preparing paperwork for the approval of amendments to the Research Degree Regulations.

The role is based in the Doctoral College office within Academic Registry and is required to oversee a student cohort of about 450 with approximately 60 conferrals a year. The Research Student Officer (Exams) reports to the Head of the Doctoral College, and works closely with a team of around ten administrative colleagues in the Doctoral College. You will be working with the wider departmental team, and in close collaboration with academic colleagues in the University's Schools, with students and with external examiners.

Your duties will include:

To succeed in this role, you will need proven administrative experience, the ability to work within regulations relating to research student administration, a good eye for detail, and the ability to build relationships and networks across a wide range of administrative and academic colleagues.

The role is full-time (37.0 hours per week) however we welcome applications form candidates seeking to job share. It is also eligible for our agile working policy, meaning that you can work a part of you week remotely, usually up to 3 days a week if full-time. This role is offered on a permanent basis.
