The Research Specialist, collaborates with PIs and Program leadership in the
development of translational research projects and consultative services to
advance investigator research efforts in clinical and translational science.
The position supports the implementation and evaluation of CTSA-grant funded
Biostatistical and Biomedical Informatics initiatives. The position works with
both programs in the implementation and evaluation of University, citywide and
nation-wide services and initiatives in support of the CTSA priorities for
catalyzing research to address clinical, translational and public health
Collaborates with CCTS Biostatistical and Biomedical Informatics
consultants in the conceptualization, design, development and delivery of
clinical and translational research projects, addressing all areas of
clinical and translational science for CCTS.
Consults with CCTS Core Leadership and with research and clinical faculty
(primarily in the health science colleges) on research study design,
data collection, metric development, evaluative analysis and summarize
results for presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Oversee processes for investigator access to biostatistical services,
clinical data extractions, and informatics consultations. Develop project
plans and monitor developments on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement
changes as needed.
Prepare reports regarding progress of goals, monitoring and reporting
outcomes and metrics. Make recommendations based on evaluation for further
development of current biostatistical and biomedical informatics
resources, educational offerings or implementation of new programs and
services to support clinical and translational research.
Prepare material and assist in preparation of manuscripts, grant
proposals, funder reports and presentations. Design tabular and graphical
presentations depicting results of analyses and hypothesis testing, review
draft manuscripts, and verify correctness of results and statistical
sections of manuscripts and grant proposals prior to submission for
publication or funding.
Advise CCTS Center and Core leadership on new directions for research
based on study results.
Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Master's
degree in social science preferred.
A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles,
concepts, practices and methods.
Project management and data analysis experience strongly preferred.
Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills required.
Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
