Overview

The Department of Chemistry seeks a Research Specialist/ Lab Technician to work in the research laboratory of Professor Tom Muir. Work in the Muir lab focuses on chemical biology and protein engineering (see: https: // muir.princeton.edu/). In addition to being actively involved in laboratory research, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities and maintaining inventory within budget limits. Candidates must have knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials, the ability to work independently within a team environment, and have excellent organizational, record-keeping, and verbal and written communications skills. In addition, candidates must be self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

This is a one year term position with consideration for a second year with continued funding and satisfactory performance.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include focusing on chemical biology and protein engineering. In addition to being actively involved in laboratory research, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities and maintaining inventory within budget limits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field • Experience working in a research laboratory

• 3+ years essential work experience
