Description

:

This primary purpose of the Environmental Control and Monitoring Engineer position is to provide support to the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Environmental Sciences Branch (SK4) as part of the Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC). This support will include, but is not limited to: 1) assessing the potential impact of hazardous chemical payloads on Spacecraft Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS), (2) assisting NASA with questions regarding the International Space Station (ISS) ECLSS, and 3) providing technical and analytical expertise to aid in the development and testing of new environmental monitoring hardware, including both air and water monitoring.

Qualifications

:

PhD in engineering with 10 years of relevant experience.

Desired Experience:

  • A PhD degree in chemical engineering and knowledge of spacecraft component testing
  • Knowledge of spacecraft environmental controls and monitoring
  • Experience and knowledge of standard analytical chemistry instrumentation, such as GC-MS and GC-FID, is desired
