The position will primarily work in the protein purification development and GMP production laboratories. The position will work independently, troubleshoot, design and complete experiments based on data from previous experiments, write scientific reports, review/verify other scientific personnel's work, and communicate with supervisors and clients. The position will perform analytical assays as needed. The position will also work in the project management office, where the individual will be expected to bring new ideas to help improve project management methods.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological/chemical related field plus three years of experience performing protein purification involving column chromatography and membrane processing while working in a GLP/GMP environment required. Must have experience writing and overseeing the execution of experimental plan. Must have significant knowledge of recombinant protein purification methods including chromatography, cross-flow filtration, and dead-end filtration and be familiar with purification equipment such as column chromatography skids, cross-flow filtration skids, packing and unpacking chromatographic resins. A strong knowledge of protein chemistry is essential. Proficiency with computers, verbal and written communication skills is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field is preferred. A strong understanding of and ability to perform analytical methods associated with protein purification such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, and UV280 are desirable. Strong organizational, problem solving, and decision making skills are helpful. Familiar with Microsoft Project is beneficial. The ability to perform work review in a GMP environment is preferred.
