Position Summary
The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking to hire a Project Manager to work for the UNC RNA Discovery Center and Pecot laboratory. The chosen candidate will work closely with Dr. Chad Pecot, Director of the UNC RNA Discovery Center (RDC), to manage and develop the research portfolio more fully and to independently facilitate research activity of the Pecot laboratory and the RDC with a focus on training, leadership, project management of various projects, technical writing, strategic thinking, and broad scientific and funding agency knowledge, in the identification of and application to large federal and private grant opportunities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience writing and submitting research manuscripts and grants. Expertise with preparing professional, publication quality figures. Experience preparing and submitting annual progress reports to funding agencies. This position requires a substantial capacity to work independently in a complex research environment. Must be attentive to detail, organized, resourceful, and able to seek advice when project concerns arise. Must possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in research design, data collection/management, and grant proposal preparation.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with cancer research is preferred.
