DescriptionThe Enrico Fermi Institute of The University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Professor position. The research professor will participate in the short and long baseline neutrino program at Fermilab and the University of Chicago and in particle physics detector R&D in Bonnie Fleming's lab. These experiments take advantage primarily of Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber detectors. The experiments are underway now and will continue at different stages of design, construction, and running through 2035 and beyond.
The research professor will lead and participate in local physics analyses and collaborations, in strategic planning for the neutrino group as well as detector design and R&D for future particle physics detectors. They will be expected to work closely with faculty, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborators visiting the Chicago site to work on the project. Travel to Fermilab as appropriate is required.
The term of the appointment will be for up to five years, with possibility of renewal. The position is expected to begin in spring/summer 2023.
