Research Officer Grade 7 Full time fixed term contract to 31st December 2022

The Department of Education at the University of Oxford wishes to appoint a Research Officer who will be a member of the TalkTogether research team. TalkTogether is a collaborative research project to understand the language development of 3- to 6-year-olds living in resource-poor multilingual settings in India . The project aims to understand children's language environments and develop an enriched language intervention to support children at school entry. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Dr Sonali Nag, the post holder will be a member of Nag's research group with responsibility for carrying out research on Language, Literacy and Child Development, with a particular focus on the Supporting Oral Language Development project. The post holder will coordinate a multi-site project liaising with co-investigators and provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers. The research is funded by the UKRI-GCRF Global Challenges Fund.

The main duties of the postholder will include: small scale project management, line managing research assistants; contributing to the development of standardized ethical protocols and consent procedures; providing quality assurance for in-country research including data collection, encoding, archiving, and analysis; ensuring full and transparent process documentation; identify appropriate research methodologies and design of school and home- based intervention; develop data management protocols; develop impact and dissemination materials, and collaborate in the preparation of research publications and present papers at conferences.

You will hold a relevant PhD, together with relevant research experience, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the disciplines of psychology, education and/or linguistics to work within the tight project timeline and requirements. Good interpersonal, IT and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to liaise with various research teams. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of the team.

The post is a full-time fixed-term contract until 31st December 2022.
