We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Officer to join the Sensory Neuroscience Research Group at the School of Applied Sciences, University of Brighton. This role is fixed term for two years because of the research funding available.
Within the Neuroscience Research Group, we conduct basic and translational research on hearing. Our approach provides essential insight into the normal workings of the cochlea and the basis for understanding and devising treatments for hearing loss which affects over 11 million people in the UK– one out of every six people. Our extensive worldwide network of collaborators helps to undertake multidisciplinary approach to problems of hearing and hearing restoration.
This role will provide a great opportunity for someone to be part of this programme of research which could make a difference to many people affected by hearing loss. You will assist the researchers in making in vivo and in situ experiments associated with this project, undertake research of your own, support with data analysis, carry out focus groups and provide a wide range of support to the researchers.
The position will be based at the Sensory Neuroscience Research Group which is at the Moulsecoomb site. The group has a fully equipped lab with a wide range of lab facilities including four sound-attenuating booths, electrophysiological and audiological equipment, and equipment for interferometric recording of cochlear mechanical responses.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 2 years.
