Research Laboratory Technician x3 (Fixed Term)
Applications are invited for the post of Research Laboratory Technician
(Grade 3) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the School
of Clinical Medicine.
You will be working on the pre-labour invasion of the human uterus by
Streptococcus agalactiae study.
You will be involved in the collection and tracking of samples using 2D
barcoded storage tubes linked to the sample management system which ensures
the integrity and correct storage of each sample. You will also be involved in
DNA purification and quantification from tissue and blood samples using
Nanodrop readings and agarose gel electrophoresis. You will assist with
administrative tasks including updating the sample management system,
producing sample reports and ensuring all sample paperwork is correctly filed.
Due to the nature of these sample requirements the role holder may be required
to work occasional weekend hours.
