Job Summary

Radiation Oncology's Cancer Biology Division has an open Research Lab Technician position to meet the needs of an established research lab.

Responsibilities

Cell isolation and culture (human and mouse, primary and cell lines), Biochemical assays (PCR, qPCR, immunoblot, flow cytometry, etc). In addition, the candidate is expected to be responsible for general lab maintenance (ordering supplies, preparing stock solutions, dish washing, data organization, maintaining a lab notebook). The candidate is expected to participate in the generation of hypotheses using data interpretations, generating graphs, and critical appraisal of the literature. Participation in weekly lab meetings for discussion of acquired results and planning of future experiments is required to function in the research program.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or Associate's degree and 1year of experience.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelors with an emphasis in biological science with course work in biology, biochemistry, cell/molecular biology is preferred.

Must have good organizational and communication skills.

Must be highly motivated, self-directed, intelligent, meticulous and hard working.

Established skills and record of productive research in several common basic biochemical assays (PCR, qPCR, immunoblot, tissue culture, etc).

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre- employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
