Job Summary

This position focuses on chemical analyses of biological and environmental samples for organic compounds primarily using GC-MS/MS and LC-MS. These analyses support a range of cutting-edge occupational, epidemiological and environmental studies investigating trace level organic contaminants, such as PBDEs, PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, PFOS, and other compounds, in biological samples (e.g., blood and urine), and environmental samples (e.g., air and water). These analyses support important studies conducted across multiple units at the University of Michigan (e.g., Engineering, Public Health, Medical School) that are investigating risk factors that affect human and ecological health. The qualified candidate must be capable of performing trace-level chemical analyses and developing methods for emerging compounds. The candidate will be involved in multiple on-going projects and will provide oversight of day-to-day operation of laboratory operations. Working knowledge of analytical methods and quality assurance / quality control is required along with good communication and organizational skills.
