Job Description

The Assured Software and Information Division within the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks an intern for the fall 2021 semester to research techniques in data characterization and data modeling for machine learning projects. This position requires working in Python and evaluating models in open source machine learning platforms, such as PyTorch or Tensorflow. Additional requirements include the ability to prototype example models in at least one of these platforms. This intern will work within a diverse team of mathematicians, physicists, computer scientists, and engineers exploring new ways of representing cyber domain data for machine learning projects. Cybersecurity topic domains include algorithm assurance, software assurance, and cyber-physical systems security. GTRI is the nonprofit applied research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and is located in midtown Atlanta on Georgia Tech's campus.

Required Minimum Qualifications


  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Python and a machine learning platform, such as PyTorch or Tensorflow
  • Task/team leadership experience
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
  • Hours per Week

    40 hours per week

    Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
