Research Grants Coordinator (Part Time, Fixed Term)

This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly team supporting the administration of research grants at the MRC Biostatistics Unit at the University of Cambridge. Full training will be given in this specialist area, but some experience of working in a financial environment would be beneficial.

We are keen to receive applications from candidates who have strong computing and communication skills with a willingness to learn the many aspects of research grants administration. It is vital that you possess excellent inter- personal skills to be able to work well with the administrative team and manage good working relationships with a wide variety of people from postgraduate research students to senior academics. Being a good team player and possession of excellent IT skills are also essential to the role.

Please see the further particulars for a detailed description of the role. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Yanying Chen, Finance Co-ordinator and recruiting manager, at [email protected]

The MRC Biostatistics Unit is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. Our focus is to deliver new analytical and computational strategies based on sound statistical principles for the challenging tasks facing biomedicine and public health. The Unit is situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the world's most vibrant centres of biomedical research, which includes the University of Cambridge's Clinical School, two major hospitals, the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, and the world headquarters of Astra Zeneca.

The Unit is actively seeking to increase diversity among its staff, including promoting an equitable representation of men and women. The Unit therefore especially encourages applications from women, from minority ethnic groups and from those with non-standard career paths. Appointment will be made on merit.

This is a part time role at 22 hours per week. We are happy to consider differing patterns for completing these hours ranging from 3 standard length days to 5 short days a week. We support hybrid working and so would not expect attendance in the office every working day, although a minimum of 1 day is essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, and a health assessment.
