  • A call is now open for the attribution of one research fellowship for PhD students or masters enrolled in a non-academic degree course (BI), within the scope of the R&D project CENTRO-01-0247-FEDER-070275 - HC PSI - Hope Care Intelligent Services Platform”, funded by the Portugal2020 program (PT 2020), under the Regional Operational Program of the Center (CENTRO 2020) and by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), taking place at the Health Sciences Research Center CICS of Faculty of Health Sciences (FCS), University of Beira Interior, under the following conditions:

    Scientific Area: Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and related areas

    Activity to be developed:

    Performance of functions within the scope of various tasks of the Hope Care project – Intelligent Service Platforms (HC PSI).

    Work plan:

    The scholarship holder will develop activities within the scope of the HC PSI project, namely:

    Activity 2: Preliminary studies and requirements analysis - Identification and analysis of environmental factors;

    Activity 3: Conception and design of the system - Modeling of environmental factors for the triage and alarm module;

    Activity 4: Development and integration into a prototype - Support for the implementation of the prototype in a real environment of use;

    Activity 5: Field tests and validation - Analysis of the information collected, comparison with the control group and clinical validation of the algorithm;

    Activity 6: Promotion and dissemination - Production of scientific articles for publication in specialized magazines and newspapers.

    Work place:

    The work will be developed at Health Sciences Faculty at the University of Beira Interior, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Miguel Castelo- Branco Craveiro de Sousa.

    Fellowship duration and conditions:

    The scholarship is expected to start in July 2022 and end on 03/11/2022 (date of conclusion of the project).

    The activity will take place on an exclusive dedication basis, according to the RBIUBI.

    The scholarship can be renewed, with a favorable opinion from the supervisor, if the project end date is extended, at most until the end of the extension period, not exceeding the duration of 22 months.

    The candidates should present:

    1. Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees and diplomas. At the application stage, these documents can be replaced by a declaration of honor that they will be delivered in the event of selection, and which must include the classifications of the Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

    5. Other relevant supporting documents.

    6. Declaration of honor from the candidate stating, that he/she meets the conditions for inscription on the third cycle of studies in the fields of knowledge described or in a non-degree course according to Article 6 of the RBIUBI.

    Publication/notification of results:

    The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through an ordered list, according to the final grade obtained, posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. All candidates will be notified by email.

    Benefits:

    A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1 144,64 € according to the updated values that can be consulted at https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt.

    The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

    Eligibility criteria

    - Hold a master's degree in Biomedicine or related areas.

    - To be a student enrolled in a cycle of studies leading a PhD degree or enrolled in a course that does not award a degree.

    The proof of registration in the PhD/non degree course is required for the fellowship contractualization.

    The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not lead to an academic degree can only be granted for a maximum period of one year.

    The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the execution of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, a cumulative period of two years in this type of research fellowship, followed or interpolated.

    Selection process

    The selection methods to be used, which will be applied simultaneously, considering that candidates who do not meet the admission requirements of this competition will not be considered eligible, are as follows:

    Part I – CF1

    The CV of eligible candidates will be evaluated and given a classification from 0 to 20 according to the appreciation of the academic, scientific, technical and professional curriculum as follows:

    A. Grades of bachelor's (10% weighting) and master's degrees (30% weighting).

    B. Appreciation of the academic, scientific, technical, and professional curriculum, and its adequacy to the work program and admission requirements (60% weighting).

    Part II - CF2:

    The 3 candidates with the best classification in part I will be invited to a face-to-face or videoconference interview. During this interview, various aspects will be evaluated, such as motivation, demonstrated availability, commitment and autonomy, emphasizing the tasks to be developed in this project and the admission requirements. The Jury will assign each candidate a score between 0 and 20 based on their performance in the interview in relation to the mentioned criteria.

    Final classification:

    It will be calculated through the average between the classification of the 1st and 2nd phase (both with weighting of 50%): CF = (0.5 x CF1) + (0.5 x CF2) from 0 to 20 values, rounded to the nearest decimal.

    The award of the scholarship to the selected candidate will be subject to obtaining a final classification equal or greater than 14 (fourteen) values.

    Complaint and Appeal Procedures:

    After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.
