  • A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship for PhD students (BI) , within the Research Project titled AqvATOPIC - desenvolvimento de gama de produtos cosméticos com água mineral natural das Termas de S. Pedro do Sul, vocacionados para a dermatite atópica (cosmetic products series development based on S. Pedro do Sul natural thermal waters) (reference POCI-01-0247-FEDER-070908), funded by Programa Portugal 2020 (PT 2020) through the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program (POCI/COMPETE 2020) and by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), taking place at CICS-UBI - Health Sciences Research Center of the University of Beira Interior (https: // www. ubi.pt/sites/cics/en).

    Objetives:

    To develop and characterize cosmetic products based on a natural Thermal Water, specially designed for atopic dermatitis

    Work plan:

    - Bibliographic search on and selection of cosmetic ingredients and packaging materials adequate to the profile defined for the cosmetic products in accordance with the goals of the project;

    - Development of 3 cosmetic products (thermal water with additives, solid stick for cleansing , emollient and moisturizer body cream); and their laboratorial characterization (organoleptic properties, pH, viscosity)

    - Preliminary stability evaluation (temperature cycles, centrifugation).

    Work location:

    The work will be developed at CICS-UBI- Health Sciences Research Centre, the University of Beira Interior (https: // www. ubi.pt/sites/cics/en), Avenida Infante D. Henrique 6200-506 Covilhã, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Rita Palmeira de Oliveira (rpo@fcsaude.ubi.pt).

    Fellowship duration and conditions:

    The fellowship is opened for 13 months, starting on September 2021.

    The contract requires exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI.

    - Certificate of completion of the previous degree (may be replaced by a declaration of honor, but only at the application stage);

    - Declaration of honor from the candidate stating, that he/she meets the conditions for inscription on the third cycle of studies in the fields of knowledge described or in a non-degree course according to Article 6 of the RBIUBI;

    - and in addition any other documents considered to be relevant.

    Benefits

    Benefits:

    A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1104,64 € according to the updated values that can be consulted at https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.

    The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

    The monthly amount shall be rendered payable via bank transfer to an account held by the grantee.

    Eligibility criteria

    Requirements for admission and hiring:

    - To hold a MSc degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology or related areas and meet the conditions to being enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to the PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree (or in an advanced non-degree conferring course).

    - To have experience (laboratory practice or knowledge) in the areas of the project such as selection of cosmetic ingredients, design of cosmetic semisolid formulations (particularly for atopic dermatitis), dosage forms characterization methods (physical-chemical and rheological), stability studies (preferably).

    The proof of registration in the PhD/non degree course is required for the fellowship contractualization.

    The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not lead to an academic degree can only be granted for a maximum period of one year.

    The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the execution of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, a cumulative period of two years in this type of research fellowship, followed or interpolated.

    Selection process

    The selection and seriation of the candidates will be based on the following parameters measured in a 0-20 scale, adjusted to decimal numbers:

    First stage

    A – Academic, scientific, technical, and professional curricula evaluation and their suitability for the scheduled work.

    B – Evaluation of previous experience regarding techniques related with the work plan, projects, scientific communications and publications in this specific field.

    The final classification from the first stage will be calculated through the equation:

    CF1 = 0.3 x A + 0.7 x B, between 0 and 20 values and adjusted to decimal numbers.

    Second stage

    C – Evaluation of the candidate(s) through interview, scheduled for the 4 best scored candidates on the first stage, with the goal of clarifying their profile(s). During the interview, among other items, the following will be assessed: specific scientific knowledge and experience in the field, motivation, availability, willingness to work on the project. This interview may be held online. The Jury will score each candidate with a grade from 0 to 20 values.

    The Final Classification will be calculated through the equation:

    CF = 0.5 x CF1 + 0.5 x C, from 0 to 20 values.

    Publication/notification of results:

    The final results of the evaluation process will be published in a sorted list, by the final classification obtained, and posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. The candidate(s) will be notified of the decision by e-mail.

    Complaint and Appeal Procedures:

    After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.

    The proposal for the final ranking of the candidates will constitute a reserve list for selection for a period of 6 months.
