FTE: 1.0 FTE working 37 hours per week (job-share considered)

Duration of Contract: Fixed-term contract for 30 months

Salary: UH7 £35,333 to £42,155 per annum dependent on skills and experience and holding a PhD ( an appointment may be considered if you are near completion of a PhD. In this case the initial appointment would be made as a Senior Research Assistant on UH 6 £29,619pa to £35,333pa )

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire

We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on a participatory multi-site research project, IncludeAge, funded by the ESRC. The project will work with LGBT+ people and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore their everyday realities of negotiating inclusion in local and online communities, working towards co-developing solutions for inclusive communities.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will undertake, and support research activities including the production of literature reviews, apply for ethical approval, develop and conduct qualitative and quantitative participative research activities, analyze datasets, and conduct knowledge translation and mobilization activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants interested in research in health and social sciences, environmental gerontology and/or people, place and community studies to develop and extend research knowledge and skills.

You will be expected to plan, develop and undertake data generation and analysis whilst working on ethical approvals. You will design and conduct co- researcher training workshops as well as provide ongoing support to the co- researchers. You will contribute to knowledge translation and dissemination activities and write reports and publications.

Skills and experience required

The Research Fellow will require proven experience working in a research environment and research experience in the subject area. You will require a record of scholarly work such as published work in peer-reviewed journals and experience in presenting research findings such as contributions to conferences. Experience in mentoring junior research staff and public engagement activity would be advantageous.

You will have excellent communication, IT and interpersonal skills. You will require experience in mixed methods, including visual and narrative data methods and will need evidence of supporting and/or undertaking a project from start to finish. You will require willingness to work collaboratively and to deadlines.

Qualifications required

You will require an Undergraduate Honors Degree at a minimum of 2:2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You will also require a PhD or be close to completing a PhD in the relevant subject area allied health, health or social sciences, gerontology, and/or urban studies, or equivalent experience.
