Description

Research Fellow

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in Human Genetics? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research intensive Universities?

The person appointed will use bioinformatics and molecular genetic approaches, including conventional and long-read next generation sequencing, to screen Leeds ophthalmic patients, in order to identify new causes of inherited blindness. Findings will be shared in an open data-sharing collaboration with colleagues at Manchester and Oxford Universities and Moorfields Eye Hospital, UCL. The post-holder will also access genome data from the UK 100,000 Genomes project, both from Leeds patients and others, to seek further genetic variants underlying human blindness and to confirm consortium findings. This post will therefore support highly translational medical research at the international forefront of retinal disease genomics research.
