About the Role You will conduct, with support, guidance and mentoring, a program of internationally competitive research that contributes to the ARC Industry Laureate research led by Prof. Tim Fletcher, on the creation of smart rainwater grids to create alternative water supplies, reduce flood risk and protect urban waterways. The research, within the world-renowned Waterway Ecosystem Research Group, is being conducted in partnership with Melbourne Water. Inspired by the concept of solar panels and their feed-in-tariffs, the project will develop a real-time controlled smart grid, where owners of rainwater tanks receive income or financial compensation for their contributions to the flood-reduction and environmental-flow services provided by the grid
Your responsibilities will include:
Who We Are Looking For You will have an emerging track record of publications on one or more aspects of water engineering or management, preferably in areas involving real-time control or optimisation, showing the ability to publish in leading international journals or other high-quality publications, relative to career opportunity as well as an emerging capacity to establish collaborations and engage with a broad range of researchers nationally and internationally.
You will also have:
A PhD in engineering or a related discipline such as environmental science or computer science.
Demonstrated potential to participate in applications for external research funding from national competitive research bodies or other sources, which may include industry, government, community groups, etc.
